Deborah Jane Kerr Trimmer was born on September 30th 1921 to Captain Arthur ("Jack") Charles Trimmer and Kathleen Rose Trimmer, nee Smale at a private nursing home in 7 St James Terrace, Hillhead, Glasgow. Although she was born in Glasgow, her parents were residing in Helensburgh at the time of her birth.

British Prime Minister Andrew Bonar Law was born 16th September 1858 in Rexton, New Brunswick (now Canada) to the Reverend James Law, a minister of the Free Church of Scotland with Scottish and Irish ancestry, and his wife Eliza Kidston Law.

William Leiper

William Leiper was born in Glasgow on 21 May 1839, the son of William Leiper who and Jane Mellis. Educated by his father and at Glasgow High School, he served his apprenticeship with Boucher & Cousland from '1855-6' to about 1859 when he went to London, working for John Loughborough Pearson and William White for approximately one year each.

Cecil Day Lewis

Day Lewis was born on April 27, 1904, in Ballin Ireland, the only child of the Rev. F. C. Day Lewis.

When Cecil was 4, his mother died and the family moved to England. He was educated at Sherborne School on a scholarship and was an exhibitioner at Wadham College, Oxford.

Robin Lloyd Jones

Robin was born in London on the 5th October 1934, and spent six years of his early childhood in pre-independence India as a ‘child of the British Raj’, whilst his father served as an Indian Army officer. In 1946 Robin returned to the UK and completed his education at Blundell's School, Tiverton, Devon and Cambridge University, where he obtained a MA degree in Social Anthropology.
