Heroes Recording - Victoria Halls 24th January

Have you ever wanted to be a pop star or dreamt of seeing yourself on MTV? Well you may now be able to get that chance!

David Bowie’s iconic 70’s song ‘Heroes’ is due to get a 21st Century makeover on the 24th January and Helensburgh Heroes want as many local people to get involved as possible. Singers of all ages and ability are invited to join some of Helensburgh’s professional musicians in the Victoria Halls on Saturday 24th January at 10.00am. The morning will be spent rehearsing the song with a view to recording the track in the afternoon.

An accompanying video will also be produced, and the record will be commercially released in late spring.

Helensburgh Heroes has been given permission by Fairwood Music Publishing to record a version of the song in an effort to raise awareness of both the area’s famous sons and daughters and also its efforts to bring some much needed arts and leisure facilities to the town. The Heroes recording event is being generously supported by the Scottish Community Foundation.

We will be recording the Bowie’s single version of Heroes. A backing track (drums, keyboards etc) will be recorded and mixed at the Carlton Studios on the 18th and 19th January. The recording on the 24th will be undertaken by a Company called Sound Sense Pro. The musical ‘director’ for the day is a talented local composer/arranger Alan Craig. Alan is going to effectively be the guy that will manage all of our volunteer ‘artists’ on the day.

During the 24th the whole event will be professionally filmed – with the footage being used for a video to accompany the track when it is commercially released (there is also a possibility that the press may turn up to record some interviews and footage for news bulletins).
