Helensburgh Heroes is delighted to announce that it will be launching its version of the iconic Bowie Hit ‘Heroes’ on August 1st 2009. The premier of both the single and the accompanying video will be held in the Victoria Hall, Helensburgh.
The song which features over 80 talented local people of all ages is currently undergoing its final mix before being sent to press.
A ‘launch party’ is planned for the 1st and full details will be released in the next couple of weeks.

“I was delighted to be able to join in with the singing in the Victoria Halls yesterday. What a wonderful experience”, “I can’t believe how professional everything was’, and “the most fun I have had in a choir” are some of the comments that organisers of this Saturday’s ‘Heroes’ recording session have received in the past few days.
From ages 7 to 77, from Cardross round to the Peninsula, local people and musical groups turned out in force to lend their vocal talents to the Helensburgh Heroes recording of the classic Bowie track ‘Heroes’.

FUTURE OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION CENTRE TAKES A STEP FORWARD
A secure future for the Community Education Centre (CEC) in Helensburgh took a step forward today (Tuesday 20th January) when Argyll and Bute Council's Helensburgh and Lomond Area Committee endorsed a decision that the business case for its refurbishment should be brought before the Area Committee and the Council Executive in March.

Have you ever wanted to be a pop star or dreamt of seeing yourself on MTV? Well you may now be able to get that chance!
David Bowie’s iconic 70’s song ‘Heroes’ is due to get a 21st Century makeover on the 24th January and Helensburgh Heroes want as many local people to get involved as possible. Singers of all ages and ability are invited to join some of Helensburgh’s professional musicians in the Victoria Halls on Saturday 24th January at 10.00am. The morning will be spent rehearsing the song with a view to recording the track in the afternoon.

The Heroes Centre - A Centre of Digital Excellence in the spirtual birthplace of Television
The Charity, Helensburgh Heroes, has secured a three storey Victorian Warehouse and goods yard within the centre of the Scottish West Coast town of Helensburgh.
A team of professionals has been created, tasked with the challenge of converting this former railway building into a Digital Academy & Entertainment Centre.
