A Shared Vision? Details of Potential Heroes Centre set for reveal

It was George Bernard Shaw who said “You see things; and you say, "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and I say, "Why not?" and that sums up the proposal currently under consideration by the Helensburgh Heroes Board.

Back For Good? Let's Hope So.

As you can see from the date of the last entry - keeping this blog updated is something that hasn't exactly been a priority for the past 12 months or so. That might be about to change ....honest guv!

The time seems to have flown by. One minute we’re watching the lads from Take That flogging us winter woollies for M&S, the next minute Rob’s back (if Mark calls him Rob it must be OK) and we’re crashing the world’s ticket systems in a frenzy to see the band in the flesh.

Heroes Supplement Part 2

As each day passes, my guilt re: updating the blog and website generally grows!

Tonight's the Night!

If you fancy coming along to support us in our attempts to raise funds and start the process of establishing a permanent leisure/arts centre within the Helensburgh & Lomond area, then please pop down to the Victoria Hall, Helensburgh between 7.30pm and 8.00pm.

Tickets are available on the door, priced £5 for adults and £1 for children.

Running order is as follows:

8.00pm Welcome and presentations
8.15pm Official launch and release of the single 'Heroes' recorded by the Helensburgh Heroes Experience

'Heroes' Premiere Event announced!!

What can I say other than I am a useless blogger! It's been months since my last Blog entry - but I've had an excuse Guv honest! And that excuse is seeing our recording of Bowie's iconic song 'Heroes' get to release status.

I won't bore you with all the gory details but since the last Blog entry back in April, the team have been busily doing the following:

a) Forming a Record Company - yes you read that right! we now have a Helensburgh Heroes Record Label. Perfect for all those groups and choirs in the area who might want to release a CD or two.

Local schools come up trumps with CD Cover entries

There are very few times when I am reduced to a state of stunned silence (in fact there are very few times when I am silent at all) but last night was one of those rare occasions

We have just taken delivery of over 200 competition entries from local P5, P6 & P7 pupils and the standard of artistic merit and interpretation of ‘Helensburgh’ was stunning.

Its snow use looking for excuses

It’s now nigh on a month since the last entry and that really is inexcusable. I have spent the past few weeks trying to find the excuses but unfortunately they are too feeble in the extreme. The recent snowfall was looking like a strong contender, after all it brought one of the world’s largest cities to a complete standstill, but as it only really settled in Helensburgh for a day and didn’t affect broadband connections, or my ability to type, it ranks as a poor 7 on the scale of feebleness.

Down but far from out

The waiting is over and the decision has been formally made on the Clyde Street Centre.

Have we failed or flopped (as it was so eloquently described in yesterday’s Advertiser) and is it a terminal blow to Helensburgh Heroes' ambitions?

Alive and Kickin'

I really haven’t got used to this blogging lark.

I have spent the past few weeks reminding myself that I really ought to add a blog entry. I mean it’s not as though us folks at Heroes HQ have nothing of interest to report. We have the Heroes recording happening, we’ve been awarded a grant and we believe that the fate of the Clyde Street Centre will be determined this week – so you would have thought I’d have had oodles to write.

All I want for Christmas.

It is now only a couple of days before I discover what Santa has stuffed in my stocking. I have to be honest and state that this year I have been very greedy and have wished for a very big and expensive present. The one item that would make me very happy would be discovering that our bid for the Clyde Street Centre has been successful.
