Walk of Fame
With over 80 Hall of Fame Heroes to commemorate and a beautiful seafront esplanade, Helensburgh would appear to be the natural choice for a Hollywood style ‘Walk Of Fame’.
It is proposed that nominees for the Walk of Fame are selected by community and public vote. The winning Heroes are then awarded a permanent bronze star which is set in the seafront pavement between Helensburgh Swimming Pool and Kidston Park.
Each year several more Heroes are inducted into the Walk via the same voting method. Living recipients would be invited to ‘unveil’ their Stars at special ceremonies.
The Lamp posts and the grass areas along the front could also be incorporated into the scheme, through banners and landscaping.
A guide book for the Walk would also be produced.
It is believed that this proposal would become Scotland’s first Walk of Fame.
