August and October’s Heroes Big Chair sessions will feature a legend of the British basketball scene and a fashion and lifestyle blogger who has become globally recognised for her impeccable style and beautifully captured posts.
On Wednesday 29th of August, the Heroes Centre will see 6’10″ Glasgow Rocks‘ professional basketball player Kieron Achara take to the Big Chair to discuss his life and career.
2018 has proved a memorable year for Kieron having recently captained Scotland’s basketball team to the semi finals of the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and winning his 100th cap for TeamGB. Kieron, who studied in the US, started his career at Falkirk Fury before moving abroad to Italy and Bulgaria, returning to Scotland in 2014.
A truly inspirational figure, Kieron will be speaking about the challenges he faced growing up in Stirling, his determination to succeed, his talent and passion for basketball and how sport is a real enabler for social change. He recently said: “I go to universities in America and I see kids going in and getting degrees who statistically had more chance of going to jail than going to university. That’s what sport can do and basketball can do it really well.”
From one giant star of the sports world to one of the virtual world.
